Workfinder is on a mission to democratise Work Experience at scale – can you help?

Workfinder is on a mission to democratise Work Experience at scale. Each year we run a campaign to support female undergraduates looking to start a career in technology in celebration of Ada Lovelace Day. We're inviting a group of innovative companies that are pioneering the way to support, and educate our next generation to be part of the campaign.

Last year's event was a huge success, with over 200 girls attending the event at the Francis Crick Institute,90 girls then went on to take part in valuable work experience at some of the UK's most exciting tech companies (PayPal, Cobra and Zoopla).

This year, the event is UK wide and is completely remote and is happening during the month of October. Our goal is to have 100 female undergraduates (aged 18-25).

We appreciate this is a very busy time so we have designed the whole two week schedule for both you and the students.

  • To participate we're asking companies to commit to taking a minimum of two bright female students from the 12 October for approximately 2 weeks of work experience.
  • Students participating will be studying STEM related degrees in higher education (18-25).
  • No need to write project specs, we provide fully editable project briefs with, easy to follow step by step schedules.

Each project is based around a specific, tech-focused, business area and is designed to deliver valuable impact for your business, you could select from:

  • Web Design
  • Application Testing
  • UX Testing and Analysis
  • Product Development
  • Building a proof of concept

Run your projects in the way you see best. Full time or part time, with two
students or ten, the resources are designed to be flexible so you can make
this work for you and your company.

Timeline of activities:

  • 30 September - commit to being part of the campaign before the end of September. Register the projects you would like students to apply for.
  • 1 -9 October - Review, shortlist and make offers to your applicants from our pool of talented and eager to learn students.
  • 13 October - Celebrate Ada Lovelace Day! Launch your projects with your students during the week of Ada Lovelace day 2020.

During launch week we will be doing a big push to showcase all who are involved in the campaign and shout about the great work you and your student teams are embarking on. Keep in touch and let us know how your student teams are getting on, we will continue to push your good work across social channels and digital networks.

If you think this is something that could be of interest, you can find out more info here and register.

Alternatively, if you have questions or want to discuss further, please reach out to Polly directly on [email protected] or book a time in her calendar here.
