Printed medical information: essential to advance patient & consumer safety
Medical leaflets = Patient Safety (MLPS) is a sub-group of ECMA focussed on promoting and defending pharma paper information leaflets from the threat of electronic product information (ePI). Article 63 of the General Pharmaceutical Legislation is proposing to give the EU 27 member states the choice on whether to use ePI or a paper leaflet for patients to obtain information on the medicines’ they have been prescribed – MLPS advocates that, with 25% of Europeans not owning a smartphone or having the digital literacy skills to use ePI, medicines and medical devices must always be accompanied by a paper information leaflet.
