Local businesswoman endures blood, sweat and blisters for charity
A local Warwickshire business leader who walked for over 22 hours straight, shedding all ten toenails in the process, has raised over £1,000 for canine charity, Dogs for Good.
Rebecca Fahy, Managing Director at Jigsaw CCS, took part in last month's London to Brighton walk, which saw just 1,256 people complete the gruelling challenge out of the more than 3,000 who started.
Commenting on her mentally and physically challenging fundraiser, Rebecca Fahy said: "As a keen walker, this is undoubtedly the hardest challenge I have ever undertaken. Not only was it physically tiring, walking for nearly 24 hours, but during that time you really need to draw upon mental focus, which was really tough.
"The support from friends, family and the local business community, who were really generous with their donations, was inspiring, and definitely worked to give me a push during the more difficult parts of the walk."
Rebecca's gruelling effort was rewarded with blood, sweat, blisters, and even the loss of toenails, as the walk took its toll physically. But this is not the first time she has gone the extra mile to help Dogs for Good. As a creative mailing specialist, her business Jigsaw CCS has previously conceptualised, designed and delivered a number of creative canine campaigns for the charity, including producing breakfast kits for its annual Big Dogs Breakfast. It is this long-standing relationship which made Rebecca want to take to the streets to help the organisation out further.
The endurance walk, which took place last month, saw Rebecca complete the challenging 100km walk in 22 hours and 37 minutes, ranking 428th out of 1,256. But Jigsaw CCS is showing no signs of stopping there, with the London to Brighton walk being only the first charity challenge the company will be undertaking this year, as it celebrates its tenth anniversary.
"This year is a really exciting one for Jigsaw CCS, as we celebrate our ten year anniversary, it was with this in mind we decided to give something back. Having worked with Dogs for Good for over 15 years, they were the obvious choice for this charity challenge, and the funds raised will provide them with valuable resources to continue their fantastic work." Rebecca concluded.
Dogs for Good works to bring increased independence and companionship to many people through their highly trained assistance dogs for physically disabled children, adults, and for families that have a child with autism. The money raised by Rebecca will help Dogs for Good train more dogs and transform the lives of people facing huge challenges every day.
