BPIF experts talk R&D Tax Credits, Colour Management, Lean and Sales Training at PrintWeekLive!

Wednesday 7th March

Workshop: A
Speaker: Natalia Shaw, Senior Development Manager, R&D Abbey Tax, recommended by the BPIF
Title: Spotting R&D opportunities
Synopsis: There will be a short presentation to raise awareness of R&D and understanding the scheme in context. The presentation will cover the intent of legislation, spotting the opportunity and which clients may be relevant to claim, and how clients will benefit from undertaking a claim. There will be example case studies and some questions and answers to finish.
During this session delegates will learn:
The R&D legislation in 3 easy steps, the type of activity that qualifies, the costs and potential value of a claim, the process of making an R&D claim.

Speaker: Paul Sherfield, Chair of the BPIF Colour Quality Steering Group
Title: The BPIF Colour Quality Scheme within a colour managed workflow
Synopsis: The BPIF have just launched version 3 of their Colour Quality Scheme, the only third party accredited such scheme. This workshop will look at the changes to the scheme and how it works within a colour management workflow and policy.
During this session delegates will learn:
The advantages of formal certification for colour management and process control.

Title: Lean: 5 quick actions that will benefit your business
Synopsis: Lean is a long term (never ending) business strategy for continuous improvement and gaining competitive advantage and is largely considered as a model of improving efficiency and productivity.
During this sessions delegates will learn:
How a lean strategy can help deliver shorter lead times, improved quality, reduced cost, increased profit, improved productivity and better customer service; all critical in today's highly competitive printing industry.

Speaker: James Eves, Business Development Manager, Advance recommended by the BPIF
Title: State of play of the print market and sales challenges
Synopsis: All industries are facing a sales challenge; with disruptive technology, and changes in buyer behaviour, the classic sales ‘rep' will not survive. We explore the selling models and skills needed to move salespeople from being ‘order takers' to ‘consultants'. Selling is a process, not a problem. By structuring the selling process as you would a printing process, and aligning the skills, companies will future proof their businesses.

Growth in output and orders ramped up in Q3 alongside boost in confidence - stronger growth forecast to hold in Q4

The pace of growth in output and orders picked up in Q3 as the UK's printing and printed packaging industry benefitted from a previously delayed boost in confidence materialising in the third quarter of 2024.
