BPIF Northern Ireland Golf Day and Dinner 2019 - Centenary Year Celebration

BPIF Northern Ireland Golf Day and Dinner 2019 - Centenary Year Celebration

Friday 13th 'lucky for some', and indeed it was for all those that turned out to celebrate the 100th year of the BPIF Northern Ireland golf society at the glorious Malone Golf Club. A fitting setting to host one of the best attended golf days in recent years.

It was a beatuful early Autumn day to be out playing golf as, laden down by fine bacon butties and some suitable sponsor merchandise, a four-ball from Multi Packaging Solutions got the centenary edition of the BPIF Northern Ireland Golf Day, sponsored by GPMI Reprocentre, underway.

There was some tremendous golf, and some less than tremendous golf, played. And probably the closest ever contest as the top 4 positions were all matched on points total and could only be separated after several rounds of count backs. Out in front this year in the Challenge Trophy, sponsored by GPMI Reprocentre, was Barry Browne (RW Pierce); just ahead of Paul Muise and Jamie McMinnis (both from Minprint).  As well as collecting the now 100 years old Callend Trophy, Barry also picked up a fine Muira wedge, kindly provided by ROC Golf.

Gareth Parkinson from Boxpak was the victor of the Stanley Little Rose Bowl (Directors' Trophy), and Caroline Irvin from Impro was the top female golfer - both sponsored by GPMI Reprocentre.

The Iddon Sherlock trophy* is now settled as the trophy for the team competiion, sponsored by Alphagraphics.  The best placed two-person company team on this ocassion was the duo from Minprint (Jamie and Paul), closely followed by Boxpak's Gareth Parkinson and Adam Cooke.

Barry Browne (RW Pierce) picked up the Nearest the Pin award, whilst Alan McElhinney (W&G Baird) went big for the longest drive - both sponsored by Prismm Environmental.

The best guest competion, sposored by BPIF, was won by Ian Murphy from Portman Graphic and finally, the twos awards went to Robert Parkinson (Boxpak), Darren Vance (GPMI) and Barry Browne (RW Pierce).

A big thanks must go to all our sponsors, GPMI Reporcentre, Alphagraphics, Prismm Environmental and ROC Golf.  Also to all companies and individuals that attended - please keep coming back.  I have to also mention that it was lovely to welcome back the retirees; Wesley Moody (snr), Frank Quinn, Billy Reid and Mervyn Mailtand -  all playing well and enjoying themselves.

Thanks also to Paddy, Stephen, Andy and all the staff at Malone Golf Club for helping make this event run smoothly and be so enjoyable.
