Greycot Press look positively towards the future

Greycot Press look positively towards the future

Marcus Clifford, Regional Director, recently met with Valerie and Brian Wilton, owners for Greycot Press, who are still actively enjoying the print business. It is clear that the strengths and values of a family ethos have stood them well in running the business.

The company began trading over 35 years ago, starting with a simple comp set punch tape type setter, a Hamda Press, a paste up area and a guillotine. After a few years they moved to a slightly bigger site and gradually acquired more equipment in recognition of the changing market and purchased a Ryobi 522 2-colour, as well as a Presstek 4-colour DI waterless press to go with the existing GTOs. This was at a time when many small printers were moving completely over to digital and had sold their litho capability but Greycot wanted to still offer Pantone options and provide flexibility for customers. They also acquired a Xerox C75 Digital Press enabling shorter cost effective runs.

The business mode has always been to produce as much work in-house as possible, booklet making, die cutting and laminating etc. Three years ago they acquired a factory and also upgraded to a newer Presstek 34DI and have since added a second Xerox Versant Digital Press.

They are currently reviewing a move into large format print use us as well for printing for the next stage of their development and sensibly acquired other print businesses order books as owners look for an exit strategy.

Brian comments, "We love to print! There are nine of us now , being a small family business has at times been challenging but we all have our own roles within the business and share a common goal to move onwards and upwards and it has worked. We are looking forward very positively to the future, and support a full Brexit and think that after a short period of adjustment everyone in our country will benefit from it, including Printers. Bring it on!"
