St Austell Printing Company on TV

St Austell Printing Company (SAPC), based in Cornwall, has been chosen to appear on a recent Channel 4 programme showcasing its high-profile work on the Top Trumps brand as part of a special film on toy production.

Filming took place at SAPC before Christmas for 'The Secret World of Toys' with the company's production operation making an appearance to demonstrate the production process of the Top Trumps line of playing cards, a contract the company has with games company Winning Moves and produces two million units per year.

As part of its segment, which will be shown alongside other famous brands such as Crayola, SAPC demonstrated the printing technology in pre-press, printing and finishing stages of the process required to produce a pack of the cards, including its specialised Rollem finishing line which was built to spec especially for the work.

Matt Bunt, SAPC's Marketing and Communications Manager said, "Our contract with Winning Moves is a big one for us and we are very proud to have it, we love working on the Top Trumps brand.  The TV production team came onsite for a day to film our process, they also filmed with Winning Moves to talk about the processes of generating ideas and licensing brands and properties for their products."

Dawn Reid, Regional Director for the area added, "This broadcast comes at the end of a significant year for SAPC, which has seen it win several awards for its sustainability.  It has also finally brought all production in-house allowing it to attain a 'made in Cornwall' accreditation.   She added, their site is a fantastic, purpose built site covering litho and digital print, as well as fulfilment and mailing - as well as having a great view over St. Austell bay and being walking distance along the coastal path to the Eden Project."
