Superfast Labels partners with Konica Minolta to enhance digital print capacity

Superfast Labels partners with Konica Minolta to enhance digital print capacity

Kent-based Superfast Labels has chosen the AccurioLabel 230 toner press from Konica Minolta to bolster its digital armoury. The new press will enable the company to address increasingly shorter lead times and further boost its efficiencies.

Founded in the early 1990s, Superfast Labels first entered the digital label market eight years ago with an inkjet press. Having expanded and upgraded the digital department since then, it is known for its market-leading digital printing capabilities and fast turnaround, most often shipping out printed labels in less than 48 hours from receipt of artwork.

The innovative company wanted to invest further in digital print technology to add speed and improve efficiencies. After surveying the market, the clear choice was the award-winning Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230 press, which will enable Superfast to continue to deliver the highest quality labels and best speed of service, at competitive costs.

The company made this decision very quickly following successful print trials at Konica Minolta’s UK showroom in Sutton-in-Ashfield and a visit to an existing customer. Managing director Andrew Miller explained, “We presented the team at Konica Minolta with some highly challenging test files and the press passed with flying colours, so it was an easy choice to make. The installation only took three days, followed by two days of training, and we have been producing jobs for our customers every day since.”

He added, “Three digital presses are now on site allowing continual production across a wide range of substrates, and when combined with a fleet of GM finishing equipment, we are ready for 2020.”

The toner-based AccurioLabel 230 digital label press, which has been awarded the Editor’s Choice Award by Print IT Reseller magazine, offers full-colour print at a speed of up to 23.4m/min with an addressable print quality resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. Using well-proven Konica Minolta technology, there are over 500 AccurioLabel engines in operation worldwide today. The ease of use, no pre-coating needed on standard materials and its high productivity are just some of the aspects of the versatile press that has made it such a popular choice with printing companies of all sizes.

“With their expertise in digital, it didn’t take Andrew and the team at Superfast long to release just how well the AccurioLabel 230 would complement their existing production capability,” said Steve Lakin, Label Press Sales Consultant at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Limited. “This isn’t just a label press for new entrants into digital, it’s a robust and reliable machine that can compete on quality with any of the high-end presses.”

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Superfast Labels to the ever-expanding family of AccurioLabel press owners,” commented Jon Pritchard, Industrial Print Business Unit Leader, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Limited. “This is a great endorsement by a major printer in the digital label market. Their investment in the AccurioLabel 230 shows that the press has the potential to offer a high value-add digital label solution to any label printer, no matter what size.”
