Summer has almost gone and what a busy one it’s been. This issue of Inprint celebrates fantastic developments in training. We’d like to say a huge thank you to employers, stakeholders and apprentices for all of their hard work and involvement prior to and during the inspection. We are proud to announce that we had validation of our training standards and are now graded a Good training provider.
We provide you with top tips for keeping talent within your workplace on page 4, and prepare you for the Good Work Plan on page 6.
We look back on an incredible Members’ Day at the House of Commons on page 12 and we inform you about BPIF insurance services on page 14. To find better insurance cover, just give us your renewal date and contact Steve Walker for further information at [email protected].
The ‘Business of Brexit’ is covered on page 16 where we offer important updates and support to help you. Our Printing Outlook report on page 24 highlights that Brexit is still respondent’s top business concern.
Awards season is upon us, and on page 22 we release the shortlist for the British Book Design and Production Awards (BBD&PAs), and share updates on the evening on page 28. Our recently updated Facts & Figures (available here) shows how the book sector forms the main component of UK trade in printed matter – in 2018 exports of books were valued at around £2 billion. The print sector is a huge contributor to the UK economy, so it matters that we share the importance and significance of print, and champion its relevance. Tickets are now on sale for the Gala Awards dinner at the Landmark Hotel, London on the 21 November 2019, where the winners will be announced – you can purchase your ticket(s) here. We’re looking forward to seeing you there for a wonderful night of celebration!
